Nasyam 1

Nasyam is one of the five major Panchakarma procedures (bio-purificatory therapies) outlined in Ayurveda. In this procedure, medications are administered through the nasal route to treat conditions affecting areas above the clavicle. According to Ayurveda, the head is considered one of the three vital organs of the body, and the nose is viewed as the closest gateway to the head. Thus, Nasyam is highly effective in treating ailments related to this region. The medications used in Nasyam can be in the form of powders, pastes, liquid extracts, or medicated oils, which are administered through the nostrils. This procedure stimulates a vital point known as Sringataka Marma, and as the medication travels through the nasal passage, it exerts its therapeutic effects on the eyes, ears, throat, and other blood vessels along the way, helping to eliminate morbid matter or doshas from the head region.
